Campaña contra la criminalización de la Ayahausca, la Iboga y otras plantas de uso tradicional

La JIFE (Junta Internacional de Fiscalización de Estupefacientes), en su último informe de 2010, "recomienda también que los gobiernos consideren la posibilidad de fiscalizar esos materiales a nivel nacional, si la situación lo requiere". Esto es, la JIFE está pidiendo una criminalización internacional de la ayhausca, la Iboga y de otras materias vegetales que forman parte de tradiciones culturales de innumerables pueblos del planeta.

ICEERS propone enviar cartas a la JIFE para que retire de sus informes oficiales dicha recomendación e informe a los países miembros de la ONU que ni Ayahuasca, ni Iboga, ni otras materias vegetales (Peyote, hongos psilocibes, etc) están sometidos a fiscalización internacional. 

ICEERS también propone enviar cartas a la Secretaría General de la ONU para que incluya la Ayahuasca, la Iboga y otras plantas que la JIFE propone a los gobiernos que fiscalicen, como Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad para evitar su desaparición. Tanto la utilización de estas plantas como las prácticas tradicionales asociadas a sus usos son partes centrales de las tradiciones de muchos pueblos del planeta, por lo que su erradicación supondría una pérdida de incalculabre valor para la herencia cultural del planeta.

The United Nations’ International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) “recommends that Governments should consider controlling such plant material at the national level where necessary”, in its annual report of 2010. That is, the INCB is seeking an international criminalization of Ayahuasca, Iboga and other botanical species which belong to the cultural traditions of uncountable civilizations of our planet.

ICEERS proposes to send letters to the INCB urging them to rectify their official report by removing this recommendation, and to inform the member states of the UN that nor Ayahuasca, nor Iboga, nor other botanical species (such as Peyote, Psilocybin fungi, etc.) are under international control.

ICEERS also proposes to send letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations to ask for the recognition of Ayahuasca, Iboga and other ethnobotanicals which the INCB proposes to be outlawed by the governments, as Cultural Heritage, to avoid its disappearance. Both the ritual preparation and the traditional practices associated with the use of these plants have a central role in the traditions of many civilizations across the world; their eradication would be a loss of myriad value for the cultural heritage of our planet.
